Summer ailments are quite common during the hot summer months. From heat eruptions and sunburn to jaundice and food poisoning, summer causes a host of health problems.  Preventive methods: Avoid going out during the day from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. because this is the time when the sun’s rays are too strong. And if you need to go out, cover yourself properly and apply sunscreen before you go out.

3. Food poisoning

 Food poisoning, also known as food-borne illness, is a disease that occurs when you consume contaminated food or water. Infectious pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and parasites are the most common causes of food poisoning. Prevention methods: Avoid eating uncooked food and meat sold outdoors by roadside vendors.

4. Headaches

Headache is another common disease that occurs during the summer months when the temperature rises. Heat causes the blood vessels of the head to expand, causing nagging pain and headaches. Headaches can also be caused by dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Preventive method: Cover up properly before going out and drink plenty of water throughout the day.

5. Heat rash

 Heat rash, also known as pungent heat, and summer rash are common ailments during the summer months. Long exposure to the sun can trigger a red, rash.

Preventive methods: Avoid going out in hot, humid weather and avoid vigorous exercise to avoid excessive sweating.

6. Jaundice

 High temperatures in the summer months increase the risk of jaundice. Jaundice is characterized by a yellowish hue on the skin and in the white of the eyes. This condition manifests itself in an accumulation of bilirubin (waste) in the blood.

7. Typhoid

Typhoid is caused by Salmonella Typhi and spreads through contaminated food or water. Consumption of unhealthy beverages in summer, standing water and lowering of the water table are considered risk factors for typhoid during the summer season. Preventive methods: Avoid eating contaminated food or water.
